IWGKS Annual Koi & Goldfish Show IWGKS 19th Annual Koi & Goldfish Show
Show Review Well folks, another is in the record books, and a record it was! Over 800 people attended our Show at the new venue of the Idaho Botanical Garden. That's nearly triple of what we have had in years past. Our hard work paid off! Congratulate yourselves and the effort that we put forth. What a Show! Fourteen members showed a total of 92 Koi which makes this a moderately large Show in the Northwest nowadays! We had an excellent Vendor Fair and Trade Show this year on the "Patio" in the Garden. The large brick paved area accommodated our 6 vendors as well as showcased the Kawa Taiko Japanese Drummers, who as usual, impressed the several hundred people that gathered to watch their performance. Our two food vendors stayed extremely busy all day and so did our Shopkeeper with sales of yet another fantastic Show Poster by none other than Morgan Dethman, very popular t-shirts, koi pins, and books. What can we say about the Koi Raffle! Unbelievable - a couple hundred koi were donated by current and old members and once again it was an ever popular event and sold out! A very special thanks to our Show sponsors, particularly the Idaho Botanical garden for opening their doors to us and to the public as their guests, free for the day! Thank you to Franze Witte for the Radio Ad campaign donation, Pond Pro for their services donations, Shoa Koi for their generous donation of a very nice Goshiki for our Super Raffle, Children of the Sun Koi for their donation of 3 beautiful koi for our Silent Auction, and many other vendors for their generosity and support of our Show. We could not have done it without you! Our Koi Judge this year was Joe White, accompanied by his wife Sherri, who came all the way from Florida. A warm thank you from our Club to the Whites! Also, Nancy Anthony who once again graciously volunteered to judge the Goldfish and as usual did a fantastic job! Thanks Nancy! The Koi Show Awards Banquet was well attended and featured an incredible array of raffle items, a great Silent Auction and the Super Raffle. The Glass awards were created by our local artist Laura Johnson and as in the past were magnificent! Special thank you to the Jacksons for hosting our clean-up and picnic event on Sunday, in the rain, but the food and hospitability were excellent! So was the last minute sales event of show quality Koi from Children of the Sun Koi that sold out for the weekend! Thanks Everyone!
